Thank you!

I contributed to the site this morning: it was a renewal. As I write, I'm still there in the "latest contributors", looking rather red!

It made me look back ... and I see that in a month or two I'll have been here ten years. A decade! How is that possible?

It's a wonderful site and I am so grateful for all the good friends I have made here.

Among so many, there's:

  • the famous young Norwegian who was bowled over when the cast of a London play (about the cook Nigel Slater) handed out walnut whips to the audience
  • the superb Craig who has probably wrestled almost everybody on the site (here in the UK, we really miss you, Craig!)
  • the kind, quietly expert, I.N., the first person I ever met here
  • the Canadian film/theme park buff, a long-standing friend, who, just days pre-pandemic, enjoyed a nice, simple bed and breakfast in Pimlico - and some M+S sandwiches for lunch. Oh - and he did some scissors on me!☺️
  • the Portuguese guy, now resident in the USA, maybe the most famous scissorer on our site: I met him, several times, in his early days here - such a nice guy ... such strong legs!
  • the French guy who makes sure to look so stern and severe in his videos but is actually a complete - smiley - teddy bear (I have photographic proof!) when you meet him
  • the awesome English guy with the meteorological username (he's very secret about his work - I reckon he could well be MI5) who has a (to me) regrettable penchant for wearing a thong when he wrestles - but who is nonetheless probably the person I have met most often
  • the big, BIG Canadian who turned up unexpectedly to live just down the road from me in Kent: you need to lay down a trail of crumbs if you are ever to find your way out of HIS holds!
  • and then, of course, there's that other Craig, a lovely fella from "up north", well beyond the Watford Gap! (No, I didn't fall off the edge, travelling so far North.) You looked good in those shorts (for 30 minutes) - and you're still a "lovely fella".
  • and, most recently, the young Estonian "semi-famous" actor with whom I've been chatting for 24 hours ...

Lots of others not mentioned of course but, also, ALL appreciated so much.

I wonder how many long-standing site members will be able to identify my friends? Sorry - no prizes!

It's possible to make such good, tolerant, loyal friends here, even if one doesn't necessarily wrestle all of them.

I want to encourage those who LURK amongst us, often for YEARS without a single meeting. Maybe we chatted for a while, so we still see you log in - sometimes quite frequently (I have one young London guy in mind).

(Watchfighters is probably where you need to be: plenty to see there, often without commitment.)

I do believe TOLERANCE is a hallmark of Meetfighters, so just urge any lurkers who might need a "push" to give it a try. Set up a meeting. Prepare carefully, keep safe ... but DO take the next step! Do it - and have fun. Good luck!

Tolerance

I was quite chuffed when I first hit upon my own MF name, Edscissors. Yes, my first name is really Edward. And yes, I like being (head/ed)scissored. (Mad, I know ... but if it doesn't frighten the horses ...) Neat!

The way we present ourselves here can be unintentionally revealing.

In my experience, a username including the suffix "boi" probably means (sorry, all "boi"s) that this is probably someone not exactly in his first youth.

Just for fun, does anyone have any suggestions or personal prejudices about how NOT to invent yourself a username for our excellent site?
