Whilst my parents are no longer with us, I help care for an elderly friend.
It’s not easy, and whilst we do it with love and affection, it definitely fits overshadow our hobby.
We’ve all had those hassle messages, but until people walk in our shoes, they have no idea of what it takes.
My respect goes to you all, and send you all my good wishes for the festive season and the new year ahead.
There are some wonderful guys on here who I will forever hold dear to me.
No, I haven’t gone soft, as my tough side is still here, but like you, I am human. Sure, I love my fights and more, but I also love a kiss and a cuddle and for someone not to hassle me as to why I haven’t responded.
So, love and hugs, hoping you don’t take offence, to you all!!
Easygoing is spot-on with his comment. Several guys on this site I know are caregivers and that is first priority. Definitely needs to be kept in mind.
Hello all…as we all know we may have parents, siblings, aunts and uncles who age as we do. Sometimes , it is our responsibility to look after those who are relatives and need our help. My ask is that if you know of wrestler on the site who may be dealing with this situation, please don’t harass them about wrestling or why they aren’t responding to your messages.
At some point, we might need each other some day. Not sure when or how, but it is possible. Let’s be kind to one another.my ask is don’t be upset if we don’t respond right away. Find out what is going on.
Just putting this out there. Show a little kindness and overlook the blindness
Hello Easygoing and what a great article that certainly resonates. As a former long-term caregiver to my late Mum, I fully understand what you are saying. Whenever I place a comment on a profile and rarely receive a response back, this is foremost in my mind as people have lives outside of this site and life does "get in the way". It is the caregivers that are so often overlooked and generally ignored. A little kindness can indeed overcome the blindness.
Thank-you for posting this.
Thank-you, Easygoing. Her passing was a huge shock, and although she had reached a considerable age, she passed quickly, which was a blessing. Still not fully got over it but have to accept that it has happened. Seems very odd not being her Carer any more now, but last few months have been very fraught, and your article certainly hit the mark. WE all try to fit in our wrestling fun with our "other "lives and their responsibilities.

Well said. Life is tough; we never know what others are dealing with. Our time on the site should be a respite for others, not an added burden.
