i never use them. They are illegal in competition for blue belts (which I am), and i would never try using moves in class against teammates that I can’t do in competition.
Strange that you mention this. During teaching today our sensei mentioned as u said above that in IBJJF they are legal for brown and black only in GI and in no gi despends on the tourney.A former wrestling coach of mine once said, "don't break your toys" meaning that if u injure your parther u do not have a training partner. Always best to play by the rules, you show nothing by hurting your parther other than that you are a total jack donkey (referring to the animal, not the beverage)

Agree mate. I haven’t done a lot of those, but I can see how you could very easily, and quickly, get hurt
