I saw get to know someone who's open to the idea and you can trust then go for it. As long as you don't go too high or too low you shouldn't have any injuries. The first time you will almost always flex reflexively, that takes time to "ignore" if you're looking for unflexed of course.

Self punching has always been a turn off for me. It’s so more erotic when someone else is in control of the punches. Self punchers in my opinion are always pulling their punches and they really can’t dig in as deep as an actual puncher could.

IMHO, Mike, taking your own gut punches is NOTHING compared to taking someone else's. How you handle it is dependent on the person giving you the punches.

As a Boxer, Kickboxer and Fitness trainer, there are times when punching one’s self is a use full tool to harden your abdominal muscles, however using a two handled medicine ball whether it is a 10 pound to start with or a 20 plus pounder if you can handle it is a much better tool for forced impact conditioning. See my prior article on using the medicine ball for “Forced Impact Conditioning” at the Trainer and Trainee-Forced Workout group. Nothing rivals a good Gut Punching session but the use of a medicine ball for forced impact training will prepare you to enjoy it to the fullest extent.

You don't have to ignore flexing. There is flexed and unflexed gut punching. Each version serves a purpose and both are valid.
