I can take it sitting, lying down or standing. I usually wedge between something that forces a broomstick against my spine. I cover the end of the broomstick with leather gloves, so it won't leave a mark I'd have a hard time explaining.
I also think a lot about being restrained, and people who have been teased or victimized about their appearance, feel defenseless or bullied, are informed that I am an arrogant narcissist who often torments people like them, then give them the opportunity to take out all their related frustrations on my gut. To see a satisfied gleam in someone's eye as they see/hear a punch slamming into my gut, is a turn on.
I would think that the puncher would have more power to make a difference for the punchee. The floor will not move. So that is one plus. And body lying down is obviously held from relax of pulling away. And the puncher is getting a break also by not having to stand and create the potential energy to make the punchee really feel it.
It just seems to be better if you need something different. Or more importantly time to work on your opponents.
I lay on floor and suck my stomach in and ran the end of a bat in my stomach in naval or just above and push as far as I can like I'm taking a beating from a guy. Hurts so good. Anyone else rth this
fix the bat (preferably not wood to avoid the risk of breaking and splinters dissecting your gut) in some kind of foot and drape yourself over it, bat in gut. now raise your legs and arms so as to rest your entire weight on the bat. now repeatedly relax and flex your abs.

Reclining is actually better. The guts are settled towards the bottom and your fist sinks in deeper.
