Six years ago I had a stent put into my main artery. I was at 99% blockage and due for the “widow maker.” I have a smaller artery still at 30% blockage (no change) and a leaky heart valve. Everyone is different, continue to see your cardiologist regularly, take your meds and be mind full of angina and the early warnings. Because I ran and worked out regularly, I caught my symptoms early and had the stent placed just in time. I also carry nitroglycerin tabs with me at all times. If you’re working out, doing yard work or wrestling do it all in moderation and take breaks !! Best of luck to you brother !
The short term issue is healing at the incision, generally 2 weeks. The longer term issue will be the anti-platelet medications you are probably now on. The common combination is plavix (clopidogrel) and aspirin. Either alone and both in combination will increase risk of bruising during wrestling. Not a deal breaker, but something to be aware off. Cardiovascular disease predicts cerebrovascular disease; in addition to the anti-platelet medication you're now on, aggressive management of risk factors (smoking, blood pressure and lipids) is important to reduce long term risk of stroke and heart attack. Those don't impact wrestling either, but will help you stay health to be able to wrestle. I hope this helped.
I train with a guy at Jiujitsu who had seven stents put in. He was back doing a bit of training about four weeks later, and is regularly there now with no issues.
Obviously I'm going to listen to my doctors on this one and not just take advice from random people on the internet. I got a stent put in yesterday for a blockage (not a heart attack). Gonna take it easy for a week. Anyone have any issues wrestling with a stent (or might end up being 2). Just looking for some personal experiences. Thanks.
